About
the project
Teaching is an extension of the studio practice: opening the material process to students, designers and people encountering mycelium for the first time. Sessions connect an introduction to fungal growth with the practical steps of working with a substrate.
The photographed Dubai Design Week workshop was developed with Peter Oei. Participants prepared a king oyster mushroom substrate to take home, connecting a public discussion of materials with the experience of cultivation.
The wider teaching record includes university lectures, thesis tutoring and material workshops. Andy also spoke about material development at Dubai WoodShow in June 2026. The credentials page brings these activities together with exhibitions and professional experience.
